InStyler, Rotating Iron, Purple 32mm, available at Boots or www.instyler.co.uk, £99.99*

I've had this tool for over a month now, and I'll put my hands up and say I forgot to blog about it. The reason for that? It slipped so seamlessly into my everyday routine, I forgot it was new.

Most of you will know that my hair is the bane of life - superficial, yes, but also very, very frustrating. I have fluffy, frizzy, uncontrollable hair and I've tried every single product under the sun to tame it. The only thing that comes close is my GHDs, and we all know the damage they do. When I was offered to try the InStyler I was excited, but also sceptical. So few tools and products actually work on my hair without the use of my GHDs as well - but the higher price point lured me into thinking, just maybe, this one might be different!

So, what is it? The InStyler is a 3-in-1 tool that can straighten, curl and/or volumise. The science-y bit lies with its rotating heated polishing cylinder, along with four rows of precision-aligned bristles, and a thermal shield that protects the skin from the heat. When the InStyler is run through the hair, the first set of bristles gently sorts and separates each individual hair strand. The rotating heated polishing cylinder then gently glides over the hair, smoothly polishing, straightening, and styling each strand. Finally, the second set of bristles puts the finishing touch to the hair, leaving it shiny and silky. What appealed to me the most is that the design of the InStyler means your hair won't be baked or crushed by the intense heat - always a bonus for someone doing their best to protect their tresses.

And did it work for me? Yes! I used it once and instantly tweeted to let the world know - it worked! My hair looked sleek, shiny and best of all, natural. I hate the poker straight look that my GHDs give - I just want a bit of bounce without the frizz. With the InStyler, I'm able to flick out the ends, or tuck them under to give that blowdried look - and the same when it comes to waving or curling my hair. It gives a soft look - no harshness like some styling tools.

I'd say in every post which shows my hair from the last month or two demonstrates how the InStyler works on me as I haven't used anything else! But you can probably see it best wavy here (I went for the bigger barrel to get loser waves, but the InStyler is also available in 19mm too!) and straight here. Overall, I love this product and would certainly pay the price for them as not only do they work amazingly well, but they do 3 jobs in 1!

  2. I have the Instyler and must admit it's great for adding shine to the hair. And easier to use than it looks. :)

  4. Ooh I've been interested about these for a while. I wondered how they worked! I hate the super straightness you get when you use straighteners. This sounds like a good alternative!
