It doesn't matter what time of year it is - you always need to take care of your lips. In the summer you need moisture and SPF and the same goes for winter. We all know how much having chapped lips affects everyday life - it drives me nuts that's for sure, especially when they start to get really sore and you can't wear lippy without looking like a lizard. Gross.
I featured Mint Julips from Lush a while back which is a basic sugar scrub designed to remove dead skin from your lips. It's a bit of an odd sensation but it really works and I just tend to use it once a week with a cotton bud, particularly if I plan on wearing a bold lip colour. I follow up with a decent lip balm and my two favourites are Carmex* (Cherry scent optional!) which is quite light and good everyday-er and for a slighty thicker application, I swear by Neutrogena's Norweigian Formula SPF20. I got this in Spain last summer but I'm sure you can get something similar over here. This is the only lip balm I've found really works for super sore lips and years ago I was told by a dermatologist that Neutrogena was the best high street brand for this kind of thing so I've used it ever since!
What do you use for your lips in the cold weather?

I use mint julips and carmex as well!! I wrote about it in my last blog post!! I love them.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about the lipstick looking like a lizard on chapped lips. Urgh!!! xx
I love the Lush lip scrubs, Bubblegum is probably my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteI normally use Blistex MedPlus when not using Nuxe Reve de Miel! xx
I love this post, I've always suffered with dry chapped lips, it's getting better as I get older but I must have tried EVERY lip balm out there. I swear by Vaseline but the fact a dermatologist recommended Neutrogena to you makes me want to give it a try.

I just received a lip balm by Jason in my January Glossybox and I swear it is amazing. It was an instant hit with me. I usually use pure shea butter from L'Occitane as this is the only thing that keeps my lips looking presentable, but the Jason lip balm is like 1/3 of the price at £2 and is gorgeous, I'd highly recommend it xx

I adore cherry Carmex - I tried the mint Carmex and didn't like it at all! I've ordered the Caudalie lip conditioner from FeelUnique, as my lips get VERY dry, and I'm looking forward to giving it a try! x

Without a doubt the Nuxe Reve De Miel lip-balm is hands down the best I've ever used. It's completely transformed my lips, I can now wear matt lipsticks which I couldn't do before :-)
ReplyDeleteI've got a new lip balm obsession at the moment! Dr Lipp's Nipple Balm for lips. It's a good, thick cream perfect for the chilly weather!
